Dartmouth College has established Dartmouth-Kalaniyot, joining a growing national network of higher education institutions dedicated to strengthening academic connections with Israeli universities. The faculty-led initiative, which originated at MIT, aims to promote academic excellence and foster collaborative research opportunities between Dartmouth and Israeli institutions.
The initiative will launch three key programs:
- The Dartmouth-Kalaniyot Sabbatical Scholars Program, bringing established Israeli researchers to Dartmouth for year-long sabbaticals
- The Dartmouth-Kalaniyot Postdoctoral Fellows Program, supporting recent Israeli PhD graduates in conducting postdoctoral research at Dartmouth
- Community Building initiatives to foster an inclusive academic environment
The program is overseen by a distinguished faculty board representing diverse academic disciplines across Dartmouth’s schools and departments:
- John Carey (John Wentworth Professor of Social Sciences, Professor, Government)
- David Feller-Kopman (Professor of Medicine, Geisel School of Medicine)
- Michael Herron (Remsen 1943 Professor of Quantitative Social Science, Chair of Quantitative Social Science)
- Susannah Heschel (Eli M. Black Professor of Jewish Studies, Chair of Jewish Studies, Middle Eastern Studies)
- Prasad Jayanti (Professor, Computer Science)
- Adam Kleinbuam (Professor, Tuck School of Business)
- Jeremy Manning (Associate Professor, Psychological and Brain Sciences)
- Daryl Press (Professor, Government)
- Dan Rockmore (William H. Neukom 1964 Professor of Computational Science, Mathematics and Computer Science)
Dartmouth-Kalaniyot’s mission aligns with the university’s broader commitment to global engagement and academic excellence. The program emphasizes open collaboration, respectful coexistence, and the advancement of knowledge without regard to national, religious, or ethnic origin.
