Bylaws

All Kalaniyot campus chapters agree to the following bylaws as the foundation for their individual programs:

  1. Collaboration and Community Focus:

Kalaniyot supports programs that foster academic collaboration between US and Israeli scholars, while enriching the local academic community.

  1. Positive Academic Environment:

The program will promote a positive academic environment, open inquiry and constructive intellectual exchange

  1. Partnering with the University:

Kalaniyot faculty will aspire to bridge between university leadership and the campus Jewish community to help address key challenges, cultivating a better environment for all.

  1. Commitment to Inclusivity:

The program will cultivate an inclusive faculty-led environment, rejecting all forms of discrimination, harassment, or targeting of individuals based on identity, nationality, or religious or political beliefs.

  1. Non-Political Stance:

Kalaniyot is an academic, not a political organization. Naturally, leaders of Kalaniyot may also be deeply engaged in other campus groups that are political. In addition, Kalaniyot may partner with other campus organizations in activities such as community lunches, lecture series and other academic and strictly non-political programming. However, official Kalaniyot activities and communications must remain strictly non-political.

  1. Respect for University Policies:

All activities under the Kalaniyot program must comply with the university’s operational and governance structures, ensuring adherence to local rules and regulations.

  1. Prohibited Activities:

Kalaniyot programs will not engage in or endorse any activities that may negatively impact the university’s academic mission or violate campus policies. Similarly, Kalaniyot will not target individuals or engage in online shaming.

  1. Endorsing Freedom of Speech:

Kalaniyot supports freedom of speech and defers to university policies for rules and regulations regarding its expression.
